In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire Thame, drivers must be a minimum of 21 years old, although requirements may differ based on the vehicle type. A valid full driving licence is necessary, held for the duration stipulated in the Rental Agreement. Renters must present valid identification and proof of current address, along with payment details and a security deposit. Additional criteria may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Thame office. A booking deposit may be necessary to confirm your reservation. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pick-up. All prices are stated in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be created and signed to document the vehicle’s state. Upon returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. Please return the vehicle with the same fuel level as received. If the fuel level is lower, refueling charges will apply. Late returns may result in extra fees, so please contact us if you anticipate delays. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that occur during your rental, along with a related administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. You can find full coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to help lower your financial risk. We advise you to examine these options thoroughly. You will be liable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount unless additional coverage is obtained. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For specific details, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited uses of the vehicle:
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in dangerous maneuvers. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is also not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes, and you must adhere to passenger and weight limits. Operating the vehicle outside of agreed geographical boundaries without prior consent is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Thame will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits or data, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.

These terms are regulated by English and Welsh law. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts in this region.
